Description
Uruwela OP1 is a classic black wiry leaf tea. The tightly twisted leaves are long and black. It has a delightfully rich aroma, with a malty finish. The leaves brew a light coppery red liquor with a smooth length of dryness and a hint of honey. Very refreshing, mellow, and full of character
A family estate, in the Ruhuna region, well known for quality manufacture. Will take milk well. If drinking without milk, reduce amount of leaf by half.
The teas grown in the Ruhuna district are called “low-grown” because they are grown at altitudes below 600m (2000 Ft). This region includes different areas ranging from coastal plains to the southern edge of Sinharaja Rain Forest. The soil and the lower elevation in this area make the tea bushes grow quickly, resulting in long and beautiful tea leaves – creating this wonderful Uruwela OP1. Ruhuna is known for its delicious and full-flavored black tea, which is unique to this region. The tea factories in Ruhuna produce a wide range of tea leaf styles and sizes, including the highly valued “tips.”
