The Nayapana estate is located in the central highlands of the Kandy region of Sri Lanka, near Pussellawa, at around 3000 feet elevation. This single estate tea has a superb quality and flavour.

The region benefits from both of the Sri Lankan weather systems, so we are lucky enough to get two high quality seasons from this area.  This area of Kandy is classed as mid-grown with an altitude of cultivation ranging between 650m and 1,300m (2,000-4,000ft). Kandy teas produce a bright infusion with a coppery tone, and are strong and intensely full-bodied.

Description

Nayapana FBOP brews a bright, red liquor with a mellow character with a slight maltiness, medium body and astringent flavour. This Nayapana FBOP single estate tea has a superb quality and flavour.

The Nayapana Tea Garden is located in Pussellawa, a sub-district of Kandy. Teas from this area are known for their outstanding taste and unique properties. During the Quality Seasons the teas in this region can produce some of the highest quality teas available. In 2019 tea from the Nayapana estate tea factory attained a record price at the tea auction. They are currently working towards becoming a carbon neutral plantation.

This estate’s location at 896 metres elevation in the central hills of the region gives this tea a thickness to the liquor and a bright full flavour that will balance milk well. As with all of our Quality Season Ceylon teas, this can be brewed to be drunk without milk too.
