Doteloya BOP is a high-quality black tea from the Kandy region. The Doteloya Estate boasts the perfect combination of ideal climatic conditions, fertile soil, and skilled tea artisans and is located at a mid-level elevation of 2500 ft – 3000 ft, affected by the South West monsoon.

This is a former Wilson family tea estate. The estate lies in the Dolosbage hills above Kandy and its name was derived from the stream that runs through it called the Dotel plus the Sinhalese word for stream which is Oya.

The factory retains the old traditional system of manufacture with the twist rollers which undoubtedly are the basis of the quality it achieves. The area is also a truly fascinating one with high rising hills and deep valleys that channel up the cool wind from the Indian Ocean in February/March, vital to quality seasonal manufacture.

When brewed, this Doteloya BOP grade leaf tea has a traditional reddish hue characteristic of the area and produces an excellent all day tea with some real quality. It will balance milk where that suits individual taste.
